SKODA AUTO INDIA appoints new Managing Director
ŠKODA AUTO India Private Ltd has appointed the former CEO of Fiat India Automobiles Gurpratap Boparai as the new managing director,
As of 2nd April 2018, Gurpratap Boparai will be taking over the management of (SAIPL), the 48 years old was most recently CEO of Fiat India Automobiles Ltd.
In this role, he will be reporting directly to SKODA CEO Bernhard Maier. Boparai has many years of experience in the international automotive industry.
The Volkswagen Group recently, commissioned SKODA AUTO to evaluate a global architecture for volume segments with modular MQB AO IN system (Modularer Querbaukasten or Modular Transversal Toolkit).
SKODA’s strategic approach is to launch, this localized platform in the Indian Market by 2020 when more strict crash and emission standards come into the force. Skoda also plans to produce competitive volume models for the SKODA and VOLKSWAGEN brands in INDIA.
In the medium term, SKODA AUTO aims for uninterrupted , stable growth in India.
At present, SKODA AUTO INDIA Pvt Ltd offers, four models on the Indian subcontinent:-
The OCTAVIA, SUPERB, RAPID and most recently launched KODIAQ, which was launched in last October 2017,.
The Rapid is manufactured at the Pune plant, while the rest of the variants were produced in AURANGABAD where the company headquarters are located. Skoda Vehicles are sold in India through 70 dealership as well as 70 service centres are available for the customers.
